Free Over the Counter Medication
Written on May 11, 2009 by Jonny
I was recently diagnosed with an intestinal issue and was perscribed medication by my Dr. It’s a 1x daily dosage for long term maintenance of the problem.
2 weeks after I had the perscription filled (for $15 co-pay per month) I received a letter from my health care provider stating that the same medication in the same dosage was available over the counter and that if I were interested in using the OTC version instead of perscription it would be provided free of charge by my health care provider!
That’s $180 a year! Hmmm…. I wonder if they would do the same for other medications taken for maintenance if perscribed. Might not hurt to ask my doctor for a prescription to other normal OTC medication.
That’s my 2 cents, but you need a health care plan to take advantage of it.
